Photographing People
We don’t just photograph people. We take the time and care to prepare people for the camera. That way they are sure to be relaxed and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Once you meet Charles and get chatting, you’ll forget you’re in front of the lens and the results will speak for themselves.
We can take your business portrait at your premises or at our studio - with natural daylight, or flash lighting. The first stage is for us to have an informal chat so that you know what to expect and how to prepare. During the photoshoot, we will give you plenty of posing tips and ensure that you fully enjoy your time in front of the camera.
Clothing Tips:
Wardrobe: Please select fitted, non baggy clothing. Avoid busy patterns and brand logos, unless part of your own corporate identity.
Men: Please ensure your shirt, jacket and trousers are pressed.
Ladies: Please ensure your top, trousers or dress are pressed. Also, please bring along your make-up and a hair brush.
Accessories: If you wear glasses, please bring them along. Even if you don’t wear them, they are useful as a prop to hold.
Try to book your photoshoot around midmorning, so that your clothing is not creased from sitting at your desk.
Posing (I will demonstrate these techniques to you - so don’t worry!)
Please stand at a 45 degree angle in front of the camera, taking the weight on your front leg. This will allow your leading shoulder to drop slightly ‘inviting the viewer into the photograph’ (We naturally raise our shoulder in defence')
Lean slightly towards the camera. Push out your forehead and drop your chin slightly.
Men - place your leading hand into a pocket, leaving the far arm hanging down by your body.
Ladies, hold you hands gently in front of you, leaving a slight gap between your arm and body.
Try to relax, especially your mouth and try a few different expressions. Tilting the head often works well.
The Process:
We will take a number of photographs of you with different poses and expressions. Again, we will demonstrate these to you.
Following the photoshoot, we will send you a watermarked low resolution weblink for your to select your portrait.
We will then send you a finished retouched portrait in both colour and black and white, in both mid (4000 px) and web resolution (2500px) I will keep the high resolution images should you require them in the future.
… Now for a bit of fun. See if you can spot Elon Musk in the gallery below and remember to ask Charles how he came to photograph him!
